Principal's Message

Dear Doig Families, 

My name is Juan Alvarez, the principal of Doig Intermediate. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce our school to you. Our primary goal at Doig is to provide all students with an exceptional educational experience. This past year, Doig Intermediate was honored by AVID as a recipient of the 45 Celebrations of Excellence Award. Doig is one of 45 schools nationwide to receive this honor. The award recognizes Doig for its commitment to closing the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. As an AVID school, Doig teachers and staff hold all students to high expectations with content rigor and supportive student-centric instruction. In addition to our AVID program, our school is a community school. As a community school, we unite diverse and engaged stakeholders to make the school community stronger and support the Whole Child. We focus on creating a supportive environment for all students and parents. We encourage parent involvement and provide opportunities for parents to participate in their child’s education. We have a variety of opportunities for families to get involved, which include ELAC, SSC, Doig Family Council, Parent Greeters, and Parent Workshops. In the new year, we hope to get a chance to work together in this next chapter of your child’s educational journey.
